Six locations around Texas and the Abilene outlet got my votes outside the Burleson. Many past diners said it’s one of the best restaurants they’d ever visited in Abilene.

Occupying a two-story building with a Texas Flag roof, Grumps Burgers has a nice design with a warm tone palette. The space, with neon signs, wood finishes, large pictures for decor, and energetic vibes, exudes confidence and friendliness. The best part? They are dog-friendly.
Step through the big entrance, and you will find yourself in a TV-filled dining area. Order at the counter and choose your seat inside or out. If the weather is your concern, they have a cover and heaters for the patio. Then enjoy complimentary peanuts during the wait time.
As its name implies, the eatery gives the ultimate love for burgers with approximately eight varieties and hand-pressed, medium-cooked patties. A proud member of Go Texan, Grumps only sources from local vendors and says no to frozen beef.
Non-burger fans will enjoy sandwiches, salads, and plenty of extras. Adult beverages are available with beers and margaritas. Spoiler here: children of 12 & under and seniors at 65 & over will get complimentary drinks.

Come to Our Place and try an array of American classics like 30-plus soups, hand-breaded chicken, and a wide range of pies made from scratch. A whole pie order is available for your requests. Drink-wise, this alcohol-free eatery offers brewed coffee in giant mugs with free refills.
Indoor seating is spacious with cute country decor, starring dark wood furnishings and hanging fans. However, I recommend pulling a seat on their lovely covered patio with your pups when it’s warm outside. Bring your laptops and books since Our Place is ideal for working.
Notes: The wait can be rough on the weekend, but it’s worth it. Reservations are unacceptable at Our Place, but patrons can sign up on their waitlist. Also, consider the nearby Lowes parking lot when their on-site parking area is full.

Another highlight of Revelry is its impressive beverage program, with a 100% domestic wine & beer selection and a long line of in-house cocktails. All are served at a 30-foot prohibition-inspired bar, cut from quartz, with big TVs to watch the latest news and matches.
Attached to the bar area is a gorgeous backyard patio with fire pits and misters. Meanwhile, the indoors is an industrial-chic aesthetic dining room with mid-century modern details, built from the ground by Walton Design Studio; plus a private “Green Room.”
A bit upscale and a particular occasion type of restaurant, AR is also a keeper with a warm and friendly vibe. The yard games and live music on some nights keep you entertained during the meal. Of course, the bill might make you stretch the budget a bit, but no one would complain.

The beef short rib, swiped with red wine braised boneless ribs, best show off Revelry’s cooking chop. While duck wings are another star of the show, shrimp & grits and deviled eggs are also incredible. Desserts are not-to-be-missed items such as creme brulee.

Everyone can thank Pandan Thai Street Eats for bringing regional Thai cuisine to Old Town Burleson. This counter-serve institution with two locations (Burleson and Crowley) is under the guidance of Pook Thothong and her family.
Why You Should Visit This Restaurant
On a corner right across the street from Babe’s Chicken, you will find the sign of Pandan before a two-story building. The modern industrial decor and chill vibes might fool you that they serve Americanized Thai food here, but on the contrary, the flavor is authentic.
Pandan offers a modern take on Thai cuisine by narrowing down the menu to wok noodles, curries, and rice bowls. Meanwhile, the bistro is group friendly since the host tries to keep everything enjoyable for all dietary needs and palates. Just ask the staff for adjustments.
Tag your kids along, as there are many meals for them. I’m sure the youngsters will scream with joy at the ice cream collection. Note that only non-alcoholic beverages are available at Pandan, but wait until you sip the Thai tea and Thai coffee.

Contrasting the small-sized space is a prominent Southern flavor from a versatile menu and plenty of healthy (vegan and vegetarian) options. The portion is right, and a meal here won’t break the bank to take your whole crew on this food trip.

On the culinary side, Fresco’s blends traditional Mexican cuisine with modern flavors, spanning from tacos and mahi mahi to burritos. They combine seasonality and locally grown products, like high-quality American meats, imported Mexican-grown chiles, and Mexican artisan cheese.

No fancy and gimmicks, Roscoe’s highly focuses on perfecting their fork-tender meat. The secrets are the exclusive rub and patient cooking until the meat falls off the bone. Tacos, sandwiches, soup, and bar foods also join the force. Yet vegetarians can join the table too.
In addition to drinks, alcoholics quench their thirst with a frozen schooner of 29-degree beer, while non-drinkers can still have a good time with ice-cold soft drinks. You will understand why diners love this place so much when you see the gigantic portions and low-priced bills.
In a rustic setting, the inside of Roscoe is more than an ordinary barbecue house with wood trim, concrete floor, and galvanized tin trimmings with cafeteria-style lines. Apart from the sit-down option, they will cater special meals for you and even sell meat by the pound.

In old town Burleson, the charmingly green & bright yellow facade makes Jamaican Summers Eatery stand out. Richard Williams, a native of Jamaica, has successfully introduced his homeland’s recipes and colorful culture to Burleson audiences since 2016.
Why You Should Visit This Restaurant
Inside, the festive Jamaican decor and fun music make you feel like you’re really in the Caribbean, complete with Marley pictures and colorful tables. The enclosed patio is a hot spot on sunny days. Charmingly, the delicious smell will hit your nose even when you sit outside.
Richard and his daughter created a traditional Jamaican menu with dishes like roti, jerk chicken, curries, beans, and more. You can check out monthly specials for inspiration. Complementing the meal is a wide range of seasonal Jamaican drinks and herbal teas.
Notes: Remember that Jamaican Summers only works four days a week, from Wednesdays to Saturdays, from 3 pm to 7 or 8 pm.

Burleson is a fierce battlefield of one chain after another, but Villa Dianna, a privately owned and operated eatery since 2005, is an exception. The fact that the residents raised money to rebuild it when this Italian eatery burnt down in 2014 proved its standing in the local’s hearts.
Why You Should Visit This Restaurant
Located off the beaten path, Villa Dianna is across from a gas station. The dim lighting and quiet noise level inside are ideal for sharing stories during business lunches or romantic dates.
Brother-in-laws Richie Hodza and Ron Iljaz set new standards for other colleagues with authentic Italian recipes. You may be overwhelmed with the variety of food offered, including pasta, seafood, veal, or pizza – not to mention at least 25 different flavors of cheesecakes.
Be prepared to have leftovers since the portion is massive and reasonable with the prices. In addition, as the house accepts BYOB policy, arrive with your own alcohol. Except for dine-in options, folks can always grab a takeaway at their drive-up window.
